Tay (rivier)

De Tay (Skotsk-Gaelysk: Tatha) is de langste Skotske rivier mei syn lingte fan 193 kilometer. De rivier ûntspringt by de berch Ben Lui, 70 kilometer noardwestlik fan Glasgow en mûnet út yn de Firth of Tay, ûnder Perth. It earste diel fan de rivier wurdt Fillan neamd. By Killin hat de rivier in wetterfal mei de namme Dochart Falls, dêrnei berikt er Loch Tay. By Kenmore ferlit de rivier Loch Tay en giet fierder ûnder de namme Tay. De rivier komt fierder noch Kastiel Taymouth en de plakken Aberfeldy en Dunkeld by del. Mei 6.216 km² hat de Tay ek it grutste streamgebiet fan Skotlân, foar dy fan de Tweed en de Spey.
